2021 Continuing Education

The New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs has continued to temporarily waive its requirements for in-person attendance for continuing education during the COVID-19 State of Emergency.

The NJFSEC has designed a new schedule of webinars and in-person seminars to assist licensees with obtaining accredited continuing education during the first year of the 2021-2023 licensure cycle.

View the 2021 Mandatory Continuing Education Brochure for more details or register below.

Currently, registration is available for CE events taking place through June 2021. Please check back for additional registration options. All dates, locations and methods of delivery are subject to change.

APFSP CE Approval and Required Renewal Documentation

The NJFSEC has obtained continuing education approval by the Academy for Professional Funeral Service Practice for webinars hosted from May 2020 through July 2020. Currently, NJFSEC Continuing Education Certificates list "N/A" under the APFSP approval code column for several webinars that were hosted during this period.

To ensure that your NJFSEC CE Certificate is comprehensive and licensees have the necessary information to complete the APFSP renewal process, the NJFSEC designed the Continuing Education Addendum, which lists the required APFSP approval codes. This Addendum must be retained along with your NJFSEC CE Certificate.

Continuing Education

The New Jersey Funeral Service Education Corporation (NJFSEC) is nationally recognized for offering funeral education programming for licensees in New Jersey. Each year, we endeavor to offer a variety of program selections for licensees to meet their licensure requirements. Most programming is accredited for licensees in neighboring states as well.

In any given licensure period, a funeral professional can receive training in OSHA safety, NJ mandated topics of funeral directing ethics, preneed as well as law and rules, and a plethora of elective subjects. More than enough opportunities to earn the 10 required continuing education units (CEUs) for New Jersey license renewal. For more information on license requirements and renewals, visit the Licensure section of this Website.

All NJFSEC programming must meet the standards set by its governing Board of Trustees. The Board is committed to thought-provoking continuing education programs for funeral service professionals in many states, working with the appropriate state governing bodies to provide CEUs acceptable for each state.

To find out if a program is accredited in your state, contact your local licensing authority.
